Les Blogs business card roundup
So let’s see now who I talked to and what’s interesting there.
Sarik from OpenBC — some LinkedIn-type thing but not invitation-only, anyone can get in. His brother and the brother’s lady were also around in town later at night. They had been around to some party at the Estonian embassy recently. They said the Estonian ambassador to France was an old gentleman who said he was the oldest of the Foreign Ministry staff and all his bosses were younger than him. Which, knowing relative youth of Estonian public service, could be quite true.
PubSub — a newswatcher that delivers you news about whatever you want from different channels. Just subscribed, don’t know yet how good it is.
Kaywa — some mobile Internet blog thing.
Lycos — used to be great Internet company but not much heard from them recently. Just launched a community blogging site. This is kind of interesting — you specify your “mood” and that is then aggregated into the “big picture” so you get an overview of the “mood of the community”.
Some problems on their signup page though. First, see this copy.

“Click here” is a nasty thing to say in the first place. And secondly, can you see the link? Only the word “here” is a hyperlink.
Vassil from Blogtronix — some “corporate blogging” thing. Vassil is originally from Bulgaria but moved to US long ago, and his tech staff is back in Bulgaria. I don’t know how, but somehow people from Eastern Europe have this level of connection that’s a bit more difficult to achieve with other regions. Talking to someone from Poland or Bulgaria or Ukraine or Russia is definitely different from talking to someone in UK or France. Not in a good or bad way, just different. I have found the “eastern people” to be more sincere and straightforward.
FON I already did previously, Martin Varsavsky is running it.
